HAVERHILL — The Fourth of July celebration in the Merrimack Valley got off to a big bang Monday night as Haverhill marked Independence Day with fireworks, music and fun at Riverside Park behind Haverhill Stadium.
The weather was perfect with clear skies, cooling breezes and temperatures much more moderate then they have been for a while.
Families, friends, and couples gathered in lawn chairs and on blankets to wait for the big pyrotechnic display.
The hot sounds of Super Natural, a Santana tribute band, kept the crowd happy and many had the chance to show off their dance moves.
As nightfall came, the excitement built until the 9 p.m. fireworks display began and the park was filled with the “oohs” and “ahhs” of the appreciative crowd.
