The Rutgers University, School of Nursing invites applications for an Inaugural Vice Dean of Nursing Research.
As the Inaugural Vice Dean of Nursing Research, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by shaping and expanding the Schools’ programs of research in ways that can promote health, guide healthcare practices, and transform lives. The core responsibilities of the Inaugural Vice Dean of Nursing Research will include the cultivation of externally funded, faculty-led programs of research with an emphasis on NIH or NIH-equivalent funding. • Provide leadership and vision in planning and implementing the School’s research agenda.

• Collaborate and partner with Rutgers / RBHS’ Centers and Schools to create interdisciplinary research opportunities.

• Mentor research faculty with a priority on the submission of NIH applications.

• Mentor Ph.D. students in the development of grant proposals (e.g. F31, AHRQ R36).

• Provide oversight and vision for the School of Nursing’s Centers of Excellence and set standards for research productivity and internal support.

• Monitor the School of Nursing’s rankings as published by the Blue Mountain Institute of Medical Research and implement successful strategies to achieve and sustain a competitive ranking.

• Provide feedback to the Associate Dean, Division of Nursing Science regarding faculty member’s research and scholarship performance.

• Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean, Division of Nursing Science in support of the Division’s faculty, mission, and vision.

The Dean of The Rutgers School of Nursing reports directly to The Chancellor of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and acts as the chief academic and administrative officer. The Dean has primary responsibility for personnel, general administration and management, budget, academic and training, research and clinical care provided by the School in Newark, New Brunswick, and Blackwood, New Jersey campuses.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Part-Time Instructor

The per diem Clinical Instructor in the Center for Clinical Learning is responsible for implementing a program of on-campus clinical learning experiences in the School of Nursing. The clinical instructor may assist CCL and RSON faculty with skills labs, facilitate simulation experiences, and work in tandem with faculty and staff to provide active learning for students in various courses. This per diem position will be scheduled as needed in the Center for Clinical Learning for students across academic program levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :1. Implement best practices in nursing education using active learning strategies in accordance with CCL, School, and University procedures and policies.

Rutgers School of Nursing is seeking a Health Care Case Managers for the Child Health Program within the School of Nursing. The Heath Care Case Manager (HCCM) functions to support the Department of Children and Families (DCF)/Child Protection and Permanency (CP&P) in meeting the health care and protection needs of children in out-of-home placement, in collaboration with other staff of the Child Health Unit in that local office.

– Upon entry into out-of-home placement, assists with enrollment of a child in a managed care entity and identification of a medical home (primary care provider), and informs the child, caregiver and DCF/CP&P, as needed.
– Assesses a child’s heath care status and needs by retrieving a complete health history through obtaining and reviewing all medical records and interviewing past providers and caregivers; forwards all information to the medical home and other health providers as needed.
– Schedules an Initial Physical Health Evaluation, in consultation with the caregiver and DCF/CP&P, reviews the preliminary and final reports, and ensures that all recommendations for health care are completed.

The François-Xavier Bagnoud Center (FXB Center) at the Rutgers School of Nursing is seeking a full time Education Specialist who will use their nursing expertise to provide education and capacity development as part of the workforce development program teams throughout the FXB Center.

Primary responsibilities:
– Value and deliver high-quality, professional, responsive, and innovative service across all FXB Center grant programs.
– Under the direction of the Program Director, provide technical assistance, training, and capacity building, for drug-user health providers located at statewide harm reduction centers.
– Further develop, evaluate, and improve on-boarding and orientation training, curriculum, and policies for healthcare providers at statewide harm reduction centers.
– Create, modify, or update standing orders, nursing forms, protocols and procedures as needed.
– Conduct quality improvement site visits, chart reviews, data analysis, and reporting for drug-user health providers and further develop the quality improvement efforts as well as assist FXB QM team with data abstraction and analysis with HIV related grants.
– Design evaluation tools to determine impact of training programs and identify additional education needs.
– Assist with FIMR-HIV & Congenital Syphilis activities including preparation of case summaries, data input and analysis, facilitation of case review and community action meetings, and engagement with stakeholders.
– Provide training on topics related to perinatal HIV, congenital syphilis, and harm reduction as need.

Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in nursing or nursing education with at least 3 years of nursing experience, which can include experience in nursing education.
– Knowledge of social determinants of health and syndemics.
– Excellent writing skills, including academic writing.
– Strong work ethic with experience in rapid turnaround projects.
– Experience with the development of healthcare provider curricula and training materials.
– Demonstrated ability to work as a member of collaborative teams with multiple external and internal partners.
– Strong communication skills, able to positively represent the FXB Center in multiple settings.

A Standardized Patient (SP) provides students in nursing and other health professions with the opportunity to develop, practice, and enhance therapeutic communication, interviewing, physical examination, and non-invasive technical skills under the supervision of the Center for Clinical Learning (CCL) Director, CCL team members, and/or Rutgers faculty. The SP will be trained to take on the characteristics of real patients, portray various case scenarios in a consistent manner to different students, and provide evaluation feedback to students on their interactions. The SP position requires a flexible work schedule on an on-call basis as needed by Rutgers School of Nursing. This is a per diem position with advance scheduling and no minimum hours of work guaranteed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

– Memorizes scenario patient information (e.g., history, symptoms, behavior) and portrays the “patient” in the same manner consistently with different students.
– Portrays a variety of patient scenarios to meet the needs of Rutgers School of Nursing.
– Participates in healthcare-related interviews, physical examinations, and non-invasive technical procedures that may include wearing a patient gown with only undergarments underneath, while on camera and/or observed live through an observation window or video monitor.

– Provides constructive feedback on student performance using basic computer skills on an electronic platform.
– Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and dependability in working on a per diem, on-call basis.

Assist divisional and departmental staff in resolving issues related to policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of expense request related activities.
Provide training and guidance to divisional and departmental administrative staff regarding Expense Management and Marketplace system as well as University policies and procedures for purchasing, accounts payable, invoice and vendor related activities. Represent the Finance Department to participate in university wide advisory committee, work group and system training and provide internal training for process improvement purposes. Act as liaison betweenSONstaff and University Procurement and Accounts Payable Office on purchasing and payment related issues.
Oversee non salary expenses for the School’s operating fund including monthly review and analysis for appropriateness, required accounting entry recording for expense accruals and reclassification, and timely submission of related account analyses to the University Controller’s Office. Review and analyze non salary expenses and prepare detail expense reports for distribution to academic divisions and administrative department officers on a quarterly basis. Provide response to non-salary related financial inquiries and assist in resolving financial operation related issues.
Participate in annual budget development and quarterly expense projections by preparing and submitting the non-salary related expense budget and projections. Provide variance analysis on major expenditure categories for management review and operational decisions.
